Sprog
Project: Tomorrow's World (group)
Duration: 6 weeks
February-March 2023
BRIEF
In groups of 3 we were tasked to develop the proposition for a new 'domestic lifestyle' brand, whose focus will serve the needs of a clearly identified market in the near future of 2033. We were to launch our speculative brand in a form of a a pop-up exhibition which will communicate what the brand stands for and who it is aimed at.
THE RESEARCH STAGE
“Reports show that one in ten kids in accommodation are living in overcrowded, cramped homes”
“75% of children use electronic devices in their bedroom”
WHAT WILL 2033 LOOK LIKE FOR CHILDREN?
- E-learning is 40 - 60% more efficient and significantly cheaper so schools becomes fully online rather than a physical place.
- Average child spend 50 hours a week of screen time. Outdoors time is 7 hours a week. Too much technology use in the bedroom.
- Cost of living causes extreme workload on parents to survive and pay bills. This forces tiny living with shared bedroom spaces and children entertaining themselves.
SPROG
Sprog is a service that provides the tools to strengthen a child’s imagination to develop their social skills through providing analogue entertainment in the crucial hours before bed. Sprog provides a space that allows all children to express themselves through creativity while taking a break from screens to develop their co-living and community relationships.

OUR ACTIVITIES AT SPROG
SPROG INVENTORS is a concept by Aleksandra Derda. It is a sensory workshop for children aged 4 to 8 that provides safe, fun and educational play that supports their sensory development.
SPROG QUEST is a concept by Tom Wylies. It is a deck of cards, and a Sproglin helper to give kids aged 8 to 12 a narrative and socialising experience. This activity encourages self expression and imagination.
SPROG STORY is a concept by myself. It creates bonding time between siblings during those hours before bed. This activity encourages siblings to work together in creating something they can be proud of and enjoy. In their tote bag kit they will receive all these items. They can pick up more templates and crafts to take home from the sprog space.
Week 1: Based on the theme of the month, children will take crafts home to build their characters.
Week 2: Challenge time! Begin to write your sprogtastic story with your randomised challenge tokens and story templates. Create shadows with your characters to build storylines!
Week 3: Grab some crafts again and build your scenes for your book! Remember not to use scissors while creating! shapes.
Week 4: Each group will read out their story and everyone will vote with their sprog token on the best creation of the month.
The book of the month will get illustrated by our local designers and placed into our sprog library.
